Laser TV: Next Generation TV Technology

Laser TV: Next Generation TV Technology was born. This technology labeled “LPD or laser phosphor display TV”. Several television producers released new technology in television products. HDI, Mitsubishi, and Prysm released LPD or laser phosphor display TVs onto the market. This amazing technology could revolutionize where TV technology goes in the future. This new TV is designed to go forward and compete with the current LCD and Plasma TV models in price and surpasses them in display, efficiency, and flexibility.

Remarkably, this technology actually reaches back to cathode ray tube technology in that it uses lasers to turn off and on as the beam passes across the phosphorous field. It is already showing up in rear and forward projection style TVs and is making its debut in several 3D TV models. The biggest advantage is the display of colors in this kind of TV. With other kinds of televisions, you only see about 30 percent of what your eye can see and with Laser you will be able to see 90 percent. That is an astounding difference plus with the ability to shut off completely when a laser isn’t in use, you get true black color for the first time.

The discovery of cost effective ways to use high quality pure gallium nitride crystals in laser diodes by Polish scientists has made it possible to finally bring this technology to the market. This allows the use of lasers in display technology without breaking the bank. There are already plans to take this advance not only into the television market but into the mini displays used in laptops and cell phones.

It is incredibly much more efficient than the old technology and even the new technologies of LCD and Plasma. Being energy efficient is certainly more important these days. Because Lasers shut off completely instead of staying partially on like the other technologies, it uses a third of the power that a Plasma TV does. With the current economy and the need for more environmentally friendly products, this could push Laser Television to the front of the competition.

Mitsubishi introduced its Laser 3D TV over the summer. It is a 75 inch rear projection TV using lasers as its light source. It is considered to have a quicker response and a more brilliant color display than comparable TVs of other technologies. That’s not to mention the television’s 3D capabilities. HDI has its own huge 100 inch model which boasts a great image display. Prysm advertises its TD1 Laser TV as an eco-friendly solution since it uses substantially less power. Their version is also offered in a variety of sizes and configurations making it very flexible.

LPD TV premieres into the marketplace at about the same cost as a Plasma Screen TV and I believe that it will soon become the biggest competition for Plasma and LCD TVs especially as people demand more efficient high quality television viewing experiences. Pretty soon you might be able to sit back and enjoy the multitude of channels you get with your cable or satellite in brilliant highly efficient Laser TV.
